Our History

Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton began as Stepping Stones Autism Institute in May of 2004. It was founded by Terri Duncan, speech-language pathologist, with a small group of families who were looking for a developmental option for their children. Our philosophy has always been family centered, activity based programming based on the principles of the SCERTS model.

We began providing services through the “IBI” funding that was provided by Family Supports for Children with Disabilities. Our services were then transitioned to “Specialized Services” under the FSCD Act and we began providing services to children with a range of disorders

Our services have been in huge demand and we have grown from a group of 5 families to between 30 and 40 families! We have a strong team of professionals and paraprofessionals providing high quality services (OT, SLP, Behaviour Consultants, SLP assistants, teacher consultant, Child Support Workers, etc...).

As an agency, we continue to grow, evolve, adapt, change, and strive toward excellence over time.
